Recently, an international study featuring scientists led by Prof. Xiaolei Wang from the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering of Nanjing University provides a better understanding of the Moon’s hidden depths. Researchers analyzed the green glass bead collected by Chang’e-5 — the Chinese National Space Administration mission to the Moon which has unusually high levels of magnesium and is evidence of a potentially deeper origin. This offers us a glimpse of the Moon’s hidden interior and helps us compare it to Earth and other planets in future missions. The relevant research results were published on May 9, 2025, in the journal Science Advances under the title "A potential mantle origin for precursor rocks of high-Mg impact glass beads in Chang’e-5 soil"（https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.adv9019）.
